Research in Science is a highly demanded need in the biomedical and pharmaceutical area. A better understanding of the disease and the discovery of novel treatments, or improvement of the current ones, are one of the main goals in our profession. Continuous dedication and analytical studies are rigorously carried out, and exhaustive reviews have to be done to make progression and decide future steps. This task requires high knowledge of the field and a devote dedication to be “up-to-date” that is handled by Research Scientists.

 

During the last years of the pandemic, I realised the amount of general misinformation without reliable and accurate sources of information that could be spread, generating misleading conclusions with a lack of scientific evidence.  Not just about viruses and infections diseases, but also about other terms used in biomedicine that are sometimes difficult to understand by the population. Cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, vascular dementia, cancer diagnosis, etc, … are just a few examples of conditions which could be complicated to comprehend by the patient, as well as their interpretation, analytical results, or the potential treatment options.  There is a large gap between scientific research and public understanding. 

 

Communicating research advancements from the laboratory to translational medicine, but also communicating “directly” from the Scientist to the individual, can help to understand, clarify and assist in a personalised way.
